Natural gas power plants support the transition to renewable energy. Their ability to quickly adjust power output complements wind and solar as variable energy sources. Our state-of-the-art natural gas power plants run on the same natural gas most Americans use for cooking or heating their homes. Natural gas is affordable, domestically available and abundant. We are not a natural gas producer, nor are we involved in the extraction of natural gas through fracking at any of our facilities.
Our natural gas power plants use the most efficient technologies to minimize environmental impact. On average, power generated by our natural gas plants emits about 50% less CO2 than typical coal-fired power plants.
Watch this GE Power video tour and discover how our combined cycle natural gas power plants work.
